Soi 94 & Wonderland: The Local’s Playground & Best Nightlife Hub

If you ask a long-term expat where they hang out on a Friday night, they won’t say the beach. They will say “Soi 94” or “Wonderland.”

Located just across the railway line from the main city, this neighborhood has exploded in popularity over the last few years. It has transformed from a quiet residential street into the coolest district in Hua Hin.

Think of it as the “Thonglor” of Hua Hin, but with a relaxed, open-air vibe. It is packed with Japanese Izakayas, craft beer gardens, legendary burger joints, and a massive live music compound.

Here is your guide to navigating the local’s favorite neighborhood.

1. What is "Wonderland"?

You will hear this name a lot. Wonderland is not a theme park; it is a massive open-air food and nightlife compound connecting Soi 94 and the railway road.

  • The Vibe: Imagine a giant beer garden mixed with a street food market. There is a huge stage in the center with live bands playing everything from Thai pop to classic Rock.

  • How it works:

    • Grab a Table: Find a spot in the central seating area.

    • Order Food: Walk around the perimeter to dozens of stalls selling everything: Isan food (Som Tum), Grilled River Prawns, Steaks, Sushi, and Kebabs.

    • Order Drinks: Waiters will come to your table to serve ice-cold beer towers or whiskey sets.

  • Why go? It is loud, fun, incredibly cheap, and authentic. This is how Thais like to party.

(Wonderland is the social place in Hua Hin Thailand where you’ll meet new friends)

2. Soi 94: The Global Dining Street

If Wonderland is too loud for you, walk down the main Soi 94 road. This street has the highest concentration of international restaurants in Hua Hin.

  • The Best Burger: Prime Burger (Soi 94). This is the original branch of the award-winning burger joint. It has a rustic, industrial vibe that is better than the mall branches.

  • Japanese Town: For some reason, Soi 94 is Little Tokyo.

    • Sakura: Affordable sushi and sashimi.

    • O’Nami: Great Teppanyaki.

  • Italian & Mexican: You’ll find authentic wood-fired pizza at Pizza Garden and great tacos at Loco’s.

(Prime Burger Hua Hin has officially opened its doors on Soi 94, bringing the award-winning smash burger chain to Hua Hin.)

Parallel to Soi 94 is Soi 88. While the upper part leads to the hills (Hin Lek Fai), the lower part near the railway is a food haven.

  • Baan Khun Por (Soi 88 Food Court): Similar to Wonderland but slightly more relaxed and focused on food. It has a retractable roof (good for rainy days) and excellent live music.

  • The “Shortcut”: There are small connecting alleys between Soi 88 and Soi 94. You can easily bar-hop between the two streets.

(Baan khun por,Fairly priced, close to center, reachable.)

4. The Nightlife: Rock, Blues & Chill

Unlike the “Bar Girl” scene of Soi Bintabaht (which can be intense), the nightlife here is more about the Music.

  • Rock Zone: If you love AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, and heavy metal, this is your church. The house bands here are incredibly talented.

  • Buffalo Bill’s: A great tavern-style pub with pool tables and live sports.

  • Craft Beer: Check out Bottle & Brewer on Soi 94 for a selection of Thai and imported craft beers that you won’t find in 7-Eleven.

(Woodstock Hua Hin is a popular spot for nightlife, located Soi 88, near Baan Khun Por (Food Garden)

Getting Around This Zone

  • Walkable? Yes! Once you are in Soi 94, you can walk to Wonderland, the bars, and the restaurants easily.

  • Getting Here: It is a bit far to walk from the beach hotels (about 20-30 mins).

    • Take a Tuk-Tuk: Tell the driver “Soi 94” or “Wonderland.” Fare should be 100-150 THB from the center.

    • Motorbike: Parking is easy and free everywhere.

Is Soi 94 Right For You?

  • YES if you want better food options than the tourist strip, love live music, want value for money, and enjoy a lively “local” atmosphere.

  • NO if you want a quiet romantic dinner by the sea (there is no sea view here) or if you want 5-star fine dining service.
